During the repair of complex congenital heart disease, the surgeon is required in many instances to locate orifices, trace the course of abnormal vessels, and perform various maneuvers of dilation and measurement of annulus or lumen diameters. In infants and children, the heart is usually confined within a small mediastinal space precluding the use of conventional instruments presently available.
